Position Summary

Civil General Laborer is a vital member of our civil team, responsible for assisting with various tasks on civil projects. This position provides support for construction activities and reports to the Foreman or Superintendent on a project site.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Promote and maintain a safe work environment by following TRICO's safety protocols, addressing safety concerns, and participating in safety meetings and trainings.
  • Monitor the safety practices of subcontractors, escalating issues as necessary to the jobsite Foreman or Superintendent.
  • Support all construction site preparation activities, including digging and leveling trenches for pipe installation and backfilling/compacting soil.
  • Mix, pour, lace, vibrate, and finish concrete; tend to equipment that pumps and places concrete and cement.
  • Set concrete curb, gutter, and sidewalk forms; remove rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces and patch holes.
  • Signal operators of construction equipment for proper alignment, movement, and adjustment to conform to grade specifications.
  • Level earth and hand-grade landscape areas to meet drainage and grade specifications.
  • Prepare and maintain general jobsite conditions, including installing temporary stairs, walls, partitions, protection, and weather barriers.
  • Maintain jobsite safety, organization, and cleanliness, including cleaning tools, equipment, and work areas.
  • Identify and distribute building materials to appropriate locations.
  • Hand locate existing utilities and dig trenches for conduits, utility lines, and other infrastructure while avoiding damage.
  • Safely operate construction equipment, such as backhoes, skid-steers, and other machinery, under supervision as needed.
  • Unload, secure, and properly store equipment and materials after use.
  • Assist with demolition activities, following dust prevention and safety requirements.
  • Bolt, nail, align, and block forms; apply caulking compounds to seal crevices.
  • Spray materials, such as water, through hoses to clean, coat, or seal surfaces.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as a civil general laborer.

Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA 30 or 10.
  • First aid card.
  • Forklift card and/or experience.
  • Boom & scissor lift card and/or experience.
  • Rigging and signaling certification.
  • General Labor Apprenticeship training.

Work Environment/Physical Demands Requirements

  • Required to climb, walk, stand, bend, or stoop for extended periods of time.
  • Lifts objects weighing up to fifty pounds.
  • Required to work in confined spaces and at extreme heights
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions, in heavy or high-speed traffic, with regular exposure to hazardous materials, noise, fumes, dirt, dust, and cold.

Travel

This job will require travel between job sites. 

Location

This position is located in Burlington, Washington and surrounding areas.

Equipment

TRICO will provide you with the tools and materials to do your job, including 100% PPE – hard hats, safety glasses, and high visibility gear. TRICO will provide a tool truck to drive to the job site. 

 

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $20.00 - $35.00 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.
