Position Summary
The Pipe Layer works collaboratively with the Civil Foreman and team to install and connect various types of pipes for infrastructure projects. The primary responsibility is to safely lay pipes in the ground according to specific plans and blueprints.
Duties & Responsibilities

Study and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and specifications to understand the layout and alignment of pipes.

Install and repair sanitary sewer, stormwater, water distribution systems and their apertures.

Grade trenches for proper pipe installation.
-
Expertly install utilities to proper grades and locations per the project specifications.

Place water mains, sewer mains, storm drainage and testing of these systems to specifications.

Participate in company trainings and events.
-
Measure and mark the ground to indicate pipe placement and alignment, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project requirements.

Connect pipes using appropriate methods, such as welding, gluing, or threading, while ensuring leak-free joints.

Backfill trenches with soil and compact it to prevent settling and ensure stability of the installed pipes.
-
Operate construction equipment such as excavators, loaders, and compactors to assist in pipe laying activities.

Assist in the installation of pipe support structures, such as manholes, catch basins, and culverts.
-
Collaborate with other construction crew members, including equipment operators, laborers, and supervisors, to ensure a smooth workflow.

Adhere to safety regulations and protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices.

Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure they are in proper working condition.

Maintain a clean and organized work area, minimizing hazards and promoting a safe work environment.

Report any issues, challenges, or deviations from project plans to supervisors or project managers.

Participate in training programs and professional development opportunities to stay updated on industry trends and best practices.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications
- 3 or more years of pipe laying experience.
- Must have knowledge and experience installing storm, sanitary sewer and water lines.
- Education in confined space entry, first aid, and/or other relevant certifications.
- Solid understanding of grades, slopes, and elevations.
- Experience installing manholes, catch basins, meter vaults, and detention systems.
- Maintaining reliable transportation is a requisite.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with environmental best management practices.

Background working in Public Works.

Blass “B” Commercial Driver’s License with the airbrake.
Work Environment/Physical Demand Requirements
-
Required to climb, walk, stand, bend, or stoop for extended periods of time.
-
Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50lbs.
-
Required to work in confined spaces and at extreme heights with proper safety equipment provided by TRICO.

Work outdoors in all weather conditions, with regular exposure to hazardous materials, noise, fumes, dirt, dust, and cold.
Travel
This job will require travel between job sites.
Location
This position is located in Burlington, Washington and surrounding areas.
Equipment
TRICO will provide you with the tools and materials to do your job, including 100% PPE – hard hats, safety glasses, and high visibility gear. TRICO will provide a tool truck to drive to the job site.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $39.00 - $43.00 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.
