Position Summary 

The Dump Truck Driver works collaboratively with Civil and Commercial Teams to safely transport materials and equipment to and from construction sites. The primary responsibilities include operating a dump truck safely and efficiently, adhering to all traffic regulations and company policies. Your attention to detail and commitment to safety will contribute to the successful completion of construction projects. 

Duties & Responsibilities 

Safe Operation of Dump Truck: 

  • Drive and operate dump trucks and a “transfer” and pull trailer to transport construction materials, including soil, gravel, rocks, and debris, to and from construction sites. 

  • Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in good working condition, including checking tires, brakes, lights, and other essential components. 

  • Operate appropriate equipment as needed to load and unload materials onto the truck bed and trailer.  

  • Secure the load properly to prevent shifting during transit, ensuring safety and compliance with transportation regulations. 

Transportation and Delivery: 

  • Follow designated routes and schedules to transport materials to construction sites, ensuring timely delivery. 

  • Coordinate with site supervisors and other team members to determine the most efficient routes and prioritize deliveries based on project needs. 

  • Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and safety guidelines while operating the dump truck on public roads. 

  • Communicate effectively with project managers, site supervisors, and team members regarding any delays, accidents, or incidents that may impact delivery schedules. 

  • Have knowledge of, and utilize, pits near job sites and be familiar with the materials they carry.  

 Maintenance and Reporting: 

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on the dump truck, such as checking fluid levels, cleaning the interior and exterior, and reporting any mechanical issues to the appropriate personnel. 

  • Complete accurate records and logs of truck operations, including mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance activities. 

  • Report any accidents, damages, or incidents immediately to the supervisor and follow TRICO’s procedures for incident reporting. 

Safety and Compliance: 

  • Promote a safe work environment and address safety concerns; ensure adherence to TRICO’s safety protocols.  

  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required, including safety vests, hard hats, and steel-toed boots. 

  • Attend safety meetings and training sessions to stay updated on best practices and promote a culture of safety among the team. 

  • Participate in company trainings and events.  

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:  

  • Must have a Class A CDL with a clean driving record. 

  • 5 years of experience with dump truck combinations and equipment trailers. 

  • Understand State/Federal laws specific to moving construction equipment.  

  • Knowledge of safe operation practices. 

  • Current CDL Medical Certification. 

Or 

  • An equivalent combination of experience and education. 

Work Environment/Physical Demand Requirements 

  • Required to climb, walk, stand, bend, or stoop for extended periods of time. 

  • Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50lbs. 

  • Required to work in confined spaces and at extreme heights with proper safety equipment provided by TRICO. 

  • Must be able to sit and drive for extended periods of time. 
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions, with regular exposure to hazardous materials, noise, fumes, dirt, dust, and cold. 

Travel 

Must be able to travel to job sites. 

Location 

This position is based out of Burlington, Washington and surrounding areas. 

Vehicle & Equipment 

TRICO will provide you with the tools and materials to do your job, including 100% PPE – hard hats, safety glasses, and high visibility gear. TRICO will provide a tool truck to drive to the job site.  

Compensation 

The salary range for this position is $30.00 to $32.00 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.
