TRICO Companies, LLC is seeking a full-time Food and Manufacturing Senior Project Manager to join our team in Burlington, Washington.

The Senior Project Manager leads multiple construction projects from concept to successful completion, ensuring they meet all safety, budget, schedule, and quality requirements. This is achieved through close collaboration with field management, project teams, clients, and trade partners.

 

The Senior Project Manager for our Specialty Food and Manufacturing Business Unit also plays a vital role in TRICO's project procurement process and is responsible for generating new client leads and relationships. They provide estimates and contribute to proposals for new projects and leverage their manufacturing and food processing expertise to facilitate a smooth client experience from concept, to kick-off, to completion. The Senior Project Manager reports directly to the Business Unit Leader.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

 

Project Management:

  • Lead and direct the estimating, engineering, accounting, and construction functions for each assigned project, ensuring compliance with USDA, FDA, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements to produce quality food and manufacturing facilities to clients.
  •  Maintain routine and thorough communication with the project team, field managers, trade partners, and clients using TRICO’s established protocol and technology to complete projects safely, timely, and under budget.
  • Develop, maintain and update schedules and budgets from conceptual through the GMP project delivery.
  • Leads constant contact/communication with project team and clients with successes and challenges during the project. With ultimate oversight and guidance, turning challenges into opportunities.
  • Ensure project costs are properly controlled and forecasted from the initial budget through to the final payment, including maintaining buyout logs, change order processes, and cost reporting.
  • Work within TRICO’s administrative procedures to ensure project contract requirements and all items necessary for efficient and proper project execution.
  • Examine all construction documents for appropriate construction details, completeness of information, potential design deficiencies, code-coordination, and constructability, bringing required items to the attention of the design partners and owner.
  • Review and manage all client contracts, subcontracts, and supply agreements, enforce subcontracts, and ensure proper subcontractor insurance.
  • Provide follow-up on the project after completion, including finalizing punch lists, investigating and resolving problems during the warranty period, and servicing the client as needed.
  • Recognize, report, and solve problems creatively and constructively, making recommendations for improvements in systems, procedures, and policies.
  • Address safety concerns alongside the project’s Superintendent.
  • Ensure prompt and proper submission and processing of applications for payments. 

 

Sales and Procurement:

  • Bring specialized knowledge of manufacturing and food processing to support client proposals and enhance project outcomes.
  • Generate job prospects, establish and build a solid customer base.
  • Facilitate presentations and proposals to prospective clients and attend networking functions and events.
  • Collaborate with the Business Unit Leader to establish corporate and financial objectives.
  • Facilitate smooth client hand-offs from the acquisition team to ensure a seamless transition and maintain client satisfaction.
  • Perform estimating duties, including generating estimate components and reviewing subcontractor bids for accuracy.

 

Mentorship: 

  • Mentor Project Engineers, providing regular training and guidance on marketing, estimating, and project management.
  • Set team goals, conduct 90-day and conduct performance reviews for project managers, project accountants, engineers, and administrators, and provide feedback on Superintendent performance reviews.

 

Qualifications 

  • A minimum of 10 years of project leadership experience in design build and negotiated construction, with a focus on food manufacturing/industrial facilities and regulatory compliance or similar.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in complying with USDA, FDA, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements in food-grade facilities. 
  • Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) Certification.
  • Contract administration and insurance knowledge.

  • An equivalent combination of experience and education.

 

Work Environment/Physical Demand Requirements

  • Required to climb, walk, stand, bend, or stoop for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50lbs.
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions, with regular exposure to hazardous materials, noise, fumes, dirt, dust, and cold. 

 

Location & Travel

This position is based in Burlington, Washington or the Tri-Cities Area and requires semi-regular travel to project sites and TRICO's offices. 

 

 Vehicle & Equipment

TRICO will provide a vehicle to drive to the job site. 

 

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $145,000 - $170,000 per year depending on experience and qualifications.
