Build Beyond a Career at TRICO

At TRICO, we’re not just building projects, we’re Building Beyond the Building. We’re looking for an experienced Civil Project Manager who understands what it takes to successfully plan, price, and execute civil construction work from the field to the office.

The ideal candidate brings strong civil construction and project management experience, with hands-on field experience highly preferred. We value leaders who understand how work gets built, can anticipate challenges before they become problems, and know how to partner with field teams to keep projects safe, productive, and profitable.

What You’ll Do

As a Civil Project Manager, you’ll take ownership of projects from estimating and preconstruction through execution and closeout. You’ll work closely with superintendents, project engineers, field Leads and Foremen, clients, subcontractors, and vendors to keep projects moving safely, efficiently, and successfully.

Project Acquisition & Estimating

  • Lead estimating efforts for civil projects, including general conditions, labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.
  • Review drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and bid packages.
  • Evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids and help negotiate contracts.
  • Develop competitive proposals and participate in client presentations.
  • Maintain and improve estimating tools, historical cost data, and processes.
  • Support business development and help identify future project opportunities.

Project Management & Execution

  • Own project performance from award through final payment and closeout.
  • Manage project budgets, forecasts, schedules, buyout, change orders, and cost reporting.
  • Identify risks early and work collaboratively with the field team to develop practical solutions.
  • Review construction documents for completeness, constructability, and potential conflicts.
  • Manage subcontract and supplier agreements and ensure commitments are executed on time.
  • Maintain proactive communication with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Visit jobsites regularly to understand progress, support the field team, and stay connected to project conditions.
  • Work directly with field Leads and Foremen to remove roadblocks and keep work moving safely and efficiently.

Leadership

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to Project Engineers and developing team members.
  • Build strong partnerships between project management and field operations.
  • Set clear expectations, follow through on commitments, and hold yourself and others accountable.
  • Help create an environment where people communicate openly, solve problems together, and continuously improve.
  • Champion TRICO’s commitment to safety, quality, and exceptional project delivery.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience managing civil construction projects.
  • Civil construction field experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of civil construction means and methods, estimating, scheduling, cost control, and project execution.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, scopes, and construction documents.
  • Strong financial understanding, including forecasting, cost management, change management, and project profitability.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build productive relationships with field teams, clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Confidence making decisions, taking ownership, and adapting when conditions change.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a genuine interest in improving how we build and deliver work.
  • Comfortable learning and using construction technology and project management tools.

Who Thrives at TRICO?

We’re looking for someone who wants more than simply managing a project. You’ll fit well here if you:

  • Put safety first, without exception.
  • Have an entrepreneurial spirit and look for better ways to get results.
  • Value speed of delivery while protecting quality and safety.
  • Believe in accountability and take ownership of both problems and solutions.
  • Are all-in, bringing energy, integrity, and a team-first attitude to your work.
  • Dig into the details while keeping sight of the bigger picture.
  • Invest in developing others and sharing what you know.
